Senoritas, super fine Mexican in the inner city. Gorgeous illustrations and brand as well.
I’ve been holding out to make it to Señoritas for a super long time. When Ms. Critique told me she had a night for me in Melbourne city, I had to take her with.
I actually met Ricardo last year when we introduced him to our scarf range. He was super lovely, gave us advice and told us about this sweet little place he had coming up.
Little did I know, it would get famous fast and be constantly booked out (I told Ms. Critique we should aim to get in around 6pm before the evening rush!).
Señoritas is all things expected. Great food. Beautiful dessert. Walls worth staring it. And most importantly. Genuinely Mexican. How do you know Kish? Well my friends, I have been to Mexico and cooked in a local Mexican home. So very touristy. But I did it. I also shopped in the local markets. And you know its Mexican when there aren’t many vegetarian options (although I’m happy if they decide to break the rule on this a tad in the future).
I had the TOSTADA DE CACTUS and the CHOCOLATE DIA DE MUERTOS (I have a thing for chilli and chocolate – I met someone who had an affection for bacon and french toast – so there). I also have a thing for Dia De Los Muertos… I admit to having eaten a bit earlier – you definitely need more than a tostada and dessert to fill you up. Therefore, I (personally) would go on a spesh occasion if you plan on filling up (much like Coda in that sense). And word to the wise, if its paid parking till 7:30pm – don’t pay till 6:45pm. It’ll hurt you like a mother-father… Just saying.
I am so sad about my pictures – sorry. But I just don’t feel good about pulling out a Canon at dinner for three (I met the beautiful Jess from CATC as well) – I feel awkward enough taking photos of my food. I’ll have to go back in the day time (are you listening V?). So meanwhile.. Back to it.
So I just checked Urbanspoon and they’ve gotten a bit of a slashing… Ouchie. I stand by how I feel about them. I mean, come on. Their waiters are hot. But no seriously, I’ve been to 88% rated places on Urbanspoon and I don’t always feel the same. I do rate aesthetic highly and I’m wondering if thats where the mismatch starts. Who knows.
Def. going back. Just let me save up post a trip to Europe.
xx
Kish.
